1.  What should I wear for my physio assessment?

It is important to wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in and ideally will expose the area that is injured.  For instance, if it is a knee injury shorts would be very helpful, if it is a shoulder injury than something like a tank top would be perfect.  We do have extra shorts and shirts at the clinic if you forget to bring your own.

2.  Will I be sore after my physiotherapy assessment?  

It is never the goal of the therapist to significantly aggravate your condition, though at times it is necessary to cause some symptoms in order to determine the cause.  The therapist will certainly factor in the level of irritation that you are experiencing and factor that into their assessment to help to reduce the amount of aggravation that you experience.

3.  Will there be any time for physio treatment at my initial assessment?  

The complexity of the assessment will determine how much time is dedicated to assessing the area.  In more complex assessments, treatment might consist of educating you on your condition, do’s and don’ts, and perhaps some exercises to perform on your own, while a more simple injury might allow for more time for hands on treatment.  What is most important is a thorough assessment as this is what allows for an individualized and comprehensive plan to get you better.
